The Curious Bear Puzzle Review: Djeco
Here at The Curious Bear, we love a good puzzle and we've got lots (like, seriously, a lot!) to choose from. To help find the puzzle that's just the right fit for you or your child, we've asked our resident puzzle expert, Kat, to give us some honest reviews. Up first, her thoughts of a Djeco puzzle!
Since 1954, the Parisian children's brand, Djeco, has been creating colorful and whimsical toys, puzzles and games. The brand was founded by Véronique Michel-Dalès, a woman far ahead of her time.
While few women at the time dared to create their own company, Michel-Dalès thrived creating award-winning games that were as fun as they were educational. In 1989, her son, Frédéric revived the small family business and helped create the world wide brand we know today.
While Djeco has built a reputation for its games and wooden toys, today, we're taking a look at its puzzles. In all its products, Djeco has a fierce passion for quality, design, and safety, and the puzzles are no exception. Instantly recognizable for its gorgeous illustrations, Djeco offers puzzles for all ages and skill levels.
The Djeco puzzle I chose to review is the "Puzz' Art - Dodo - 350pcs." While there were lots of unique shapes and designs to choose from, the dodo was just too fun to pass up!
The puzzle pieces are random cut style and have a matte finish, which I prefer as it eliminates the glare from overhead lights. While a bit more challenging, I loved having a non-traditional shaped puzzle to try. Each puzzle piece has a high quality feel to it, plus, there were no false fits or puzzle dust! The puzzle's colors are so vibrant and the illustrations are top-notch, with all different types of birds, insects, and plants. My favorite part to work on was the feet!
In total, this puzzle took me about two hours to complete. I would recommend this puzzle to kids 7 and up, with some adult help, and to kids 9 and up to complete on their own.
Overall, I loved this puzzle and will definitely keep for future puzzling fun!
Puzzle on,
Kat
