Mini Maestros at University Puget Sound

Jan 7, 2019by Ann Wiley

If you've been looking for a fun way to introduce your kids to musical instruments and more, Mini Maestros at University Puget Sound has you covered. Every spring they offer an informal concert series that is created for kids ages 2-8.

The first three "informances" are held at the  University of Puget Sound's Schneebeck Concert hall at 2:30pm on Sunday afternoons. The first will be on January 13 followed by another in February and March. Each "informance" focuses on a section of the symphony and has an instrument petting zoo available one hour before each concert.

The final concert is in May and features the full orchestra performing Peter and the Wolf by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. Peter and the Wolf tells the story of a young boy and the adventure he has with his animal friends. Each character of the story is portrayed by a different instrument or group of instruments and is a delightful way to engage kids in a concert setting! Although there is no instrument petting zoo available at the final concert, this is a great experience for kids to see a live orchestral show.
